An excellent opportunity to join a global leader in a key position initially based in Canada and expecting to relocate to Liberia until 2015.

Job overview:

Secure best-in-class implementation of the Liberia Phase 2 project through:-
Management of all engineering deliverables from consultants
Mine, Process, Rail, Port, Infrastructure, Electrical power, Materials handling
Supporting the management of suppliers, technical consultants and contractors
Ensure optimal trade-off is made between technical and economical considerations for proposed technical solutions

Major responsibilities:

Manage the EPCM team of engineers and designers based in Oakville, Canada for the development of the Feasibility Study and subsequent engineering and procurement stages.

Support and challenge all engineering functions on proposed technical solutions taking into consideration both technical feasibility and economical optimization:

  • Processing and mine engineering design, construction and commissioning (mine site, processing plant)
  • Engineering, design, construction and commissioning (rail, port, infrastructure, electrical power, materials handling)
  • Participate, when required, in technical discussions with equipment suppliers, EPC(M) contractors and external consultants
  • Oversee the development of engineering and technical standards and ensure compliance with most appropriate technologies.
  • Coordinate the interface with internal technical groups (mine planning, product quality, etc).
  • Define and manage necessary Hazop studies
  • Define and organised constructability reviews with the future operational teams.
  • Transfer to Liberia during the construction phase to supervise all engineering aspects of the implementation.

    Organizational relationships/reporting structure:

    Reports to the Project Director
    Works closely with the Project Controls Manager and Procurement Manager
    Manages the Project Engineering team, mainly consisting of an EPCM contractor.

    Will oversee the installation of a concentrator.
    Must have experience in Mineral Processing / Materials Handling.
    We are currently in the feasibility stage and will move to design and finally construction.

    Candidates must have an engineering degree and several years experience.

    This is a $1 - $1.5 Billion dollar project.

    Salary approx. C$200,000+
